Which Durood is Mentioned in the Quran?
A Common Misconception
There is a widespread belief that a specific Durood sharif (salutations and blessings upon Prophet Muhammad) is explicitly mentioned in the Quran. However, this is a misconception.
The Quran, while replete with verses emphasizing reverence and respect for the Prophet Muhammad, does not contain a verbatim Durood as we recite today. The customary Darood sharif formulations, such as Darood-e-Ibrahim, Darood-e-Sharif, and others, are primarily derived from the Sunnah (the Prophet's teachings and practices) and the explanations of the Quran by early Islamic scholars.
The Quran does, however, provide the guidelines and framework for sending salutations upon the Prophet. Verses like those in Surah Al-Ahzab encourage believers to invoke blessings upon him. It is upon this foundation that the various Durood formulations have been developed over time.
While no specific Durood is directly quoted in the Quran, the spirit and essence of sending salutations to the Prophet are deeply rooted in the Quranic teachings.
